Meet the JCR committee
This is your JCR committee! We’re here to represent you to College and the outside world. Each position has a specific responsibility, so if you need help or information just browse through below and get in touch with whoever suits your needs most. If you’re unsure, our President is always more than happy to help and point you in the right direction.
President – Scarlett Hughes
Hello everyone, I am Scarlett, a second year HSPS-er from Cornwall and I am very excited to be your JCR President for the coming year. If I am not on the water or in the library, I will likely be found trying to fix my prehistoric bike (somewhat unsuccessfully) or catching up with friends over coffee and a walk. Please do not hesitate to reach out to anyone on the Committee with any questions, concerns or suggestions. We are here to help make your experience of Churchill as best as possible and any ideas will always be very much appreciated

I speak on behalf of the whole JCR that we want to ensure you have the best Churchill experience!

I’m involved in welfare schemes across colleges such as the SUs sexual health scheme which provides free sexual health supplies in the JCR pigeon hole. I’m also very open to any ideas you may have for the JCR or ways the college and university can support you better. Please please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me via the JCR welfare email address.

Along with Al, I’ll be organising LGBTQ+ socials, keeping up the tradition of LGBTea (though you’ll never ever see me drink any…) and generally celebrating the queer joy around college! However stressed I may look, I am always down for a chat so please come and say hi ◡̈

Hi everyone !! I’m Thea (she / her), a second year historian from the South Coast. I also like karaoke, squash, roller-skating, reading, murder, journalism, playing piano, table tennis and charity shopping, and only one of those was a lie! If you ever need me, look to the trees and I will be waiting.
Green Officer – Pasha Taylor
Hello everyone, I am Pasha, one of the JCR Green Officers. I am studying Geography and have a real passion in promoting and enhancing the sustainable credentials of Churchill College. Upon coming to Cambridge, I was intimidated by the prestige of the university and was nervous that I would fail to follow the surplus rules and regulations implemented by colleges, such as wearing a gown and not walking on the grass! The nice thing about Churchill is that you are welcomed with open arms and not confronted with many of these strict regulations or traditions. Rather, the college is forward thinking and seeks to embrace individuals as they are and for what they chose to do. I hope you take this for comfort – try not to worry and before you know it you will find you place and your people here. Best of luck!
Access & Education Officer – Sarannia Ragula
Hi! I’m Sarannia, a second-year medic from London. I’m very excited to be one of your JCR Access and Education Officers- something I’m really passionate about. I spend some of my free time working with external companies to help school students with their med school applications. I also enjoy playing badminton for the college women’s team (if you’re interested do get in touch). And finally, as you can probably tell from my photo, I absolutely love dogs (cue my friends rolling their eyes right about now) and I love love love showing pictures of my adorable Maltese Terrier and talking about all things dog! Anyways, I’m always up for a chat or a quick coffee catch-up in the buttery so please come say hi or reach out if you ever want to talk 🙂
Access & Education Officer – Joshua Sebastine
I’m Josh, a second year medic. I enjoy playing the piano and going to the gym. I am one of the access and education officers. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about getting involved in open days or about medicine.
Class Act Officer- Anesu O’Mard
Hi everyone, I’m Anesu! I am going into my third year of studying Chemical Engineering. In my spare time, I love taking landscape photography and have been a member of Cambridge Concert Band since I was a fresher playing the flute. As the Churchill JCR Class Act Officer, I’m here to represent, support and be a friendly face for the undergraduates at Churchill who have come from a disadvantaged socio-economic, educational or cultural background. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, issues or suggestions to support the Class Act community at Churchill.

Computing Officer – Robert Woodland
Hi, I’m Robert, the JCR Computing Officer. I’m a second year CompSci, and my job on the JCR committee primarily involves moderating the mailing list and maintaining the JCR website. In my spare(ish) time I enjoy playing music, spending time with friends, and doing sound engineering for theatre productions and music events. I play Alto and Soprano Saxophones, and I am also on the committees for UCCB (Concert Band) and CICCU (Christian Union). I have also done some rowing (when in Cambridge…), and played badminton and tennis. I love the grounds and facilities at Churchill, and the fact everyone stays on site through their whole degree.
